Sourdough

Over the past two weeks I’ve been experimenting with baking sourdough bread. I was always attracted by the idea of baking my own bread, especially since the bread in the supermarkets here is not that great. However, like many of those things, I tried it a few times and then stopped doing it. This time however, it’s a different story.

I started with creating a sourdough culture. This is the base for all sourdough loafs, and it takes a while to get going. However, refreshing the culture every evening and morning with fresh flower and water got me excited about baking the bread.

This weekend I had time to bake my first loaf. It turned out good, but with room for improvement. The next day I tried again. I’m very pleased with what I made. I’m looking forward to doing this more often, and to only eat my own bread in the future. I’ll keep you posted on my journey in baking.
